Jonell Deshotel: A Legacy Warrior

I consider myself to be a Legacy Warrior. I lost my Mom in 2014 to Inflammatory Breast Cancer. In December 2020, I was diagnosed at the age of 34 with Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Thankfully, I already had a general knowledge of Breast Cancer and early detection due to my Mother’s history with the disease. I found my own tumor in the early stages. Early detection literally saved my life, especially because Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) is so difficult to combat. I underwent 16 rounds of Chemotherapy, 17 rounds of Immunotherapy, plus a double mastectomy with immediate implant reconstruction.

Currently, I am in remission and navigating life throughout the survivorship portion of this journey. I am a patient advocate for all things Breast Cancer. I believe that no one should go through this battle alone. I also pride myself in being a safe space for support, advice, or mentorship for those that need it.
